Aerospace / Military Specification ID Tape
Tape & Label has been a manufacturer of ID tape since 1977. Working with McDonnell Douglas, Northrop, and the Space Shuttle program has provided us with a familiarity with Aerospace and Military systems.

Identification tape codes indicate the function, contents, hazards, direction of flow, and pressure in the fluid line. These tapes are applied according to MIL-STD-1247. This Military Standard was issued to standardize fluid line identification throughout the Department of Defense. The function of a line is identified by the use of a tape. The tape is approximately 1-inch wide, where words, colors, and geometric symbols are printed. Functional identification markings, as shown in MIL-STD-1247, are the subject of international standardization agreement. The function of the line is printed in English across the colored portion of the tape. Three-fourths of the total width on the left side has the color code. Non-English speaking people can troubleshoot or maintain the aircraft if they now the color code. The right-hand, one-fourth of the functional identification tape contains a geometric symbol that is different for every function. This symbol ensures that all technicians, whether colorblind or non-English speaking will be able to identify the line function.

Rotary Die Cutting
Tape & Label Converters (TLC), has over thirty years of experience in the use of rotary die cut equipment. We have produced tight tolerance parts for a variety of industries; aircraft, aerospace, electronic and specialized product manufactures.
TLC's experience includes the lamination of pressure sensitive adhesives to a variety of materials including film, foil, plastics, metalized plastics...ect. Producing component parts, gaskets, insulations, flex magnets, wasers and many other applications.
TLC can produce the die cut parts as individual pieces or adhesives backed "kiss cut" parts nested on a liner. The parts can be delivered on a roll for automatic application or on sheets with multiple parts.
TLC welcomes prototype and development work and we are proud of our ability to work with our customers in the rapid development of a part or process to reduce our customers production cost.

- OVERLAMINATE
A COATING OF REGULAR VARNISH, U.V. CURED VARNISH OR A PLASTIC FILM APPLIED TO THE PRINTED SURFACE OF THE LABEL TO PROTECT THE LABEL FROM ABRASION, AND CHEMICALS WHILE ALSO GIVING THE LABEL PROTECTION FROM FREQUENT HANDLING OR TOUCHING BY HUMAN HANDS.
- PRINTING
LABELS ARE PRINTED USING THE PROCESS OF FLEXOGRAPHY AND HOT FOIL STAMPING. USING FLEXOGRAPHY WE CAN PRINT PROCESS WORK AND UP TO SIX COLORS USING PMS OR CUSTOM COLORS. USING THE PROCESS OF FOIL STAMPING WE CAN ENHANCE ANY LABEL BY APPLYING METALIC COLORS, GOLD SILVER OR A VARIETY OF SOLID COLORS THAT ADDS EYE APPEAL TO ANY LABEL
- FACE STOCK
THE PRIMARY SURFACE FOR PRINTING. FACE STOCKS COME IN A VARIETY OF MATERIALS FROM PAPER, FOILS, AND FILMS. EACH FACE STOCK HAS ITS OWN CHARECTERISTICS WITH RESPECT TO PRINTING (INK ABSORPTION) AND FLEXABILITY.
- ADHESIVE
THERE IS A GREAT VARIETY OF ADHESIVES AND THEY SHOULD BE CHOSEN (ALONG WITH THE FACE STOCK) DEPENDING ON WHAT APPLICATION THE LABEL IS TO USED FOR. IN GENERAL THE ADHESIVES ARE CLASSIFIED AS PERMANENT, REMOVABLE AND RE-POSITIONAL. THE ADHESIVE STRENGTH OF THE ADHESIVE IS CHOSEN BASED ON TEMPERATURE AT APPLICATION TIME OF THE LABEL AND THE SURFACE MATERIAL THAT THE LABEL IS APPLIED TO. -
LABEL SHAPES
LABELS ARE CLASSIFIED AS DIE CUT OR KNIFE CUT AND SHEETED.DIE CUT LABELS IN GENERAL HAVE ROUND CORNERS AND ARE CUT WITH A VERY PRECISE ROTARY DIE MANUFCTURED TO CUT OUT THE SHAPE SPECIFIED. GENERALLY, THERE IS A SPACING BETWEEN LABELS ON A ROLL AND THERE IS EXCESS BACKING ON THE SIDE OF THE LABEL.
KNIFE CUT ("BUTT CUT") LABELS ARE SEPERATED BY A SLIT BETWEEN THE LABELS AND ARE RECTANGULAR IN SHAPE AND DO NOT REQUIRE A SPECIAL DIE TO CUT FROM THE MATRIX.
TAPE AND LABEL CONVERTERS MAINTAINS A VERY LARGE SELECTION OF STANDARD RECTANGLE. CIRCLE, OVAL AND POPULAR SHAPED DIES IN INVENTORY. WE ALSO CAN PROVIDE YOU WITH KNIFE CUT LABELS (SQUARE CORNERED) IN MANY SIZES. WE CAN CREATE A DIE TO YOUR SPECIFICATIONS FOR AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE.
- LABEL FINISHING
LABELS ARE FINISHED BY SHEETING OR REWINDING IN ROLLS. ROLLS ARE WOUND DEPENDING TO SUIT THE APPLICATION METHODE OR MACHINE POSITIONING OF THE LABEL ON THE ROLL SPECIFIED AS PER THE POSITION CHART BELOW. PLEASE SPECIFIY THE POSITION THAT SUITS YOUR APPLICATION.
